China Limits CN (Chinese) Domains To Companies
In a reaction to reports of pornography appearing on .CN domain names, the Chinese authorities have decided to limit domain ownership to companies only. Individuals may no longer register CN domains.
This move has been accompanied by a tightening of the procedure for company registrations. The Chinese authorities wish to be sure that CN domains are registered by real, bona fide companies.
As CN providers we are obliged to follow these new regulations so we will now be asking for the following documentation to be completed for each CN, COM.CN, NET.CN and ORG.CN registration.
- The completed Domain Name Registration Application Letter Form (.doc format) including a business seal or signature of a representative from the business.
- A copy of the business license. Business license means the official document of the business, company or organization (such as company or organization registration).
- A copy of the applicant’s personal ID. Acceptable personal ID may include copies of a driver’s license, passport, resident card/ID
These documents need to be sent to CNNIC via email to: reaudit@cnnic.cn or fax to: +86 10-58812666-2 on the same day of the online application for the registration or soon thereafter. FAILURE TO SUBMIT THE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION WITHIN FIVE DAYS OF REGISTRATION WILL RESULT IN THE DELETION OF THE DOMAIN.
For transfers, please complete the Application Letter for .CN Transfers form (.doc format). Please note that the auth_code must be supplied.
Current CN registrations with e3internet are not affected. We also believe this new rule will not be enforced for renewals. Individuals are still welcome to register .CN.COM domains which are provided by CentralNic.
